SQL injection: when a form talks to your database for the attacker

One text box, one apostrophe, and a login page can fall apart.

How it works

If a website builds a database query by joining in what the user typed, an attacker can type their own query instead. A classic example input in a login box is ' OR '1'='1.

Why it matters

SQL injection has sat on the OWASP Top 10 list for years because developers keep building queries from raw input.

How to fix it

Use parameterised queries (prepared statements), validate input, and give the database account only the permissions it needs.

Try it

Practise it legally in a lab, never on a real site. Share what you found in the community.
